Mermaids,
Sea Fairies and Sea Sirens
Mermaids,
sea fairies and sea sirens have been spotted by sailors in far away oceans
for centuries. The sightings
are uncommon these days, perhaps because we think we have nothing left to
explore. Of course, that supposes that the inner world is less valid than
the outer, for there is always plenty to explore there. So, if you are dreaming
by the sea, watch for the shimmer of the sun on the water; a sea-fairy, a
mermaid or a sea siren may show herself to you.
Mermaid
Fiona
Mermaid Fiona is
the guardian of the deep sea treasures, of all the bounty ever lost at sea.
Like the Morganes of the myths, she dries her treasures on the sand, laid
out on white cloths. You can gaze at the treasures as long as you don't blink.
Sea
Siren Ruth
The Sea Siren Ruth, while she can be alluring, is, like all
temptresses, fatally attractive. So if you see her sitting on a rock in the
ocean, beware of venturing
too close. Don't be fooled if you see that she has legs, rather than a tail,
for being a magical siren, she can manifest either. Apparently, sea sirens
live to 29,600 years, so she will be around for a long time yet!
Sea Fairy Jaimy is a bright, impish creature who loves to surf
the waves. She has flashing, sea-green eyes, blue wings and long, wavy hair.
She tends to be found in the warmer water and many a surfer has wondered about
the strange creature, half light, half water, that bounces cheekily on the
nose of his board and then is gone in a blink.
